Museums in London

One of the best things about London is the HUGE range of museums there are, and the fact that so many are free to visit! Here, I talk about my favourites to visit and some rather unusual ones that may be of interest to you all!

Natural History Museum - Free
The Science Museum- Free
V&A - Free
V&A Museum of Childhood- Free
British Museum - Free
Pollocks Toy Museum -£6
The Design Museum - Free

The Natural History Museum is just that, a museum of natural history. Walk amongst dinosaurs and meet the fearsome T- Rex, or head up to the second floor to see the collection of semi precious stones! There is far more to see than what I have mentioned so have a look around yourself! Free and Kid friendly

Nearest Station South Kensington

The Science museum is a more interactive museum. Covering a vast range of subjects from materials to space and space travel, this is one of my favourite museums to visit. I could get lost in here for hours!

Nearest Station South Kensington

The Victoria and Albert Museum is a decorative arts museum and one of the largest in the world. If you visit, keep an eye out for the paid exhibitions they often hold there, I love the fashion exhibits, but there is something for everyone with sections including modern art, to Greek and Japanese pieces as well.

A part of the V&A museum, the Toy museum has a collection of toys through  the ages, I walked through this museum pointing out the toys I'd played with as a child!
very very nostalgic!

Nearest Station Bethnal green

Another famous museum. This Museum houses a large collection of artifacts from all around the world. With floors upon floors of interesting things to see you could quite literally spend a whole day here and still not see anything. The stars of this museum however are the Egyptian Mummies on display here.

Nearest Station Holborn

The Imperial War Museum  - Free

The Imperial war Museum will take you on a journey into War time London, and also the war zones, with recreations of trenches and tanks aswell. its well worth a visit to  learn more about the war!

Nearest Station Waterloo

For those who appreciate the design in everyday objects, from chairs to Computers. I can say that  I was one of those people who didn't pay attention to the design process of the things I use everyday, but after my visit to the Design museum, I take a closer  look at the design features of something as mundane as a bike!

Nearest Station High Street Kensington

Housed in two victorian houses, this museum holds the largest collection of Victorian toys. Be warned however! There's a a room full of victorian (Porcelain) dolls which whilst pretty, get quite unnerving when you don't know they're there!

This Museum is quite hidden away on the corner of a quietish street, so the address is below for you to put into Google Maps!

1 Scala St, Bloomsbury, London W1T 2HL
