Popular London

Or all of the touristy things you HAVE to see!
London Eye

The London eye or the Millenium wheel is literally a giant ferris wheel, allowing you to see almost the whole of London. Trust me, the views are amazing!

The Aquarium is nearby as well as Southbank which is always worth a look!

Ticket prices for both can be found on their websites linked below.

Big Ben and Houses of Parliament

Probably one of the most popular landmarks of London,  Big Ben (which refers to the bell inside Elizabeth Tower) and the houses of parliament. You can only really take in the beauty of the landmark when youre standing infront of it!

The houses of parliament offer tours every weekend and sometimes through the  week suring a parliamentary recess.
Its a pretty interesting tour and you really do get to see so much of such a beautiful and old building that you wouldnt normally see!

Westminster Abby

An absolutely beautiful building inside and out. the Abby offers guided tours which provide an enromous amount of insight into the history of the abbey. with stunning artwork and sculptures, this is definitely a historical must do of London.

Tower of London and Tower Bridge

They say that if the 6  Ravens that live in the Tower left, the the Kingdom will fall. Interesting superstition right?

Learn more facts like this on a guided tour of the Tower of London! walk across Tower bridge (Pictured) to see the crown jewels!

Picadilly and Nelsons Column

I didnt call this page 'Popular London' for nothing! Picadilly Circus and Nelsons column are within walking distance of eachother and both are a hub for tourists. Picadilly Circus is never not busy but there are a huge amount of theatres near by if you like to watch West End shows!

Nelsons Column and Trafalgar square is a lovely little area of London just outside the National Gallery. Although famed for its ridiculously high pigeon population (which has decreased recently) its lovely to sit by the fountains and have a bite to eat!

The Shard

The Shard, so called because it looks like a shard of glass is a 95 storey building which is open to the public. The view from the Shard is one of the newest landmarks for tourists to see. Offering panoramic views of London stretching  40 miles.
Tickets for this are about £20 but there is another option I talk about below for those who don't want to spend a lot of money to see an amazing view of London.

The Sky Garden

Inside another skyscraper is another view of London. The Sky Garden is essentially a free to  balcony in the Walkie Talkie building. It had observation decks and a lovely  (decently priced) bar.

I can't even begin to describe how beautiful this place is, with a 360 degree uninterrupted view of London in a wide open social space.
Be sure to book tickets well in advance of your visite however, as they do tend to go quickly!

London Parks

You cant come to London and not visit one of the many parks we have to offer! Pictured here is Holland park, which is home to the Kyoto peace garden, once of the most tranquil places I've been!

Also pictured is a duck from the London Wetlands Centre which offers a chance for everyone to enjoy wildlife in its natural habitat. with rare birds visiting and otters who live in the centre, its one of the most exciting places I've been! Keep an eye out for their events and trails!

There is also Hyde park and Regent's park, and even Victoria Embankment park. Honestly, its so worth seeing any park in London at any time of the year, in the bleak midwinter, the parks have such a different atmosphere than they do in the summer, (obviously) but you need to visit to know what I really mean!
