Browsing on Instagram I came across a page from a company called Empty Chair, who have an app, its only on Apple for the moment, the app is for those of us who want to do a one off class.
The classes range from Pole Dancing to Bath Bomb making.
Its such a great idea for people like me who get so tired searching for classes on Google, trying to find something decently priced and what the class includes!
Over the weekend I was invited to a crochet class that was on the Empty Chair App.
The class was a crochet based class called ‘Hook-A-Monster’. Now, I had tried Crochet maybe once in my life and it didnt go well! So I gave up.
This class was a great chance to learn a new skill. The class was based in Stockwell in the Art 4 Space centre and is run by 3 lovely girls, Mel, Viv and Mya.
Classes are small with about 5 people in each class, meaning you get lots of attention from the girls!
The class was 3 hours long, but it felt like 1! the first hour was pretty hard going trying to learn how to crochet and do a single sitch, gettig used to using a crochet needle, and lettign our eyes adjust to the stitches!
The style of crochet that we were learning was Arigurumi, which was based on crocheting in the round. basically put, we were basically crocheting a ball to make our own cute little monster.
The girls created a simple, step by step guide for us to use to keep track of the stiches we made, and their pattern was so easy to follow!
They had accessories for our monsters, with beautiful little eyes and noses, and even lovely crochet ears, which I used to decorate my monster! The monsters are so cute and so easy to make, so you can be sure that I am going to go and make so many little monsters, (once I get my tools!)
Make sure you check out the Empty Chair app, especially if you're in London, and love crafting! there are so many interesting classes to take part in and they're all well priced! I'm in the middle of trying to pick my next class!
Check out the monsters below!
